Q: Why do you charge a ceremony fee?
A: A ceremony fee is charged when the ceremony takes place at the same site as the reception. The Mazzone Catering staff will arrive earlier and allow time to assist with set-up and breakdown of ceremony chairs (if needed), they will also greet guests and direct them to the ceremony area, and best of all we help you and your bridal party get down the aisle!
Q: Is there a minimum or maximum number of guests required for a catered event?
A: We specialize in customizing our services to suit your needs. We can cater to groups small or large. We do have food and beverage minimums that need to be met based on seasonality and day of the week. Consult your event planner for details.
Q: When do I provide a final guest count?
A: A firm guarantee of attendance and meal counts must be received by the catering office 10 days prior to your event. Reductions in guest counts are contractually permitted up to 72 hours before the event.
Q: Do you offer Family-Style service?
A: Family-Style service is a great option for the continuing trend of rustic weddings. Our team of chefs and event planners are happy to suggest menu items that work well for this style of service.
Q: Do you offer food tastings?
A: Once you book your wedding with Mazzone Catering a private tasting can be scheduled. A fee of $500 is levied for up to 4 people to sample a selection of hot hors d'Oevures and your choice of your choice of two selected appetizers, salads, and entrees. Tastings last approximately 1 ½ hours. (There are items we are not able to produce for a tasting, and other restrictions may apply, consult your event planner.)
Q: I am looking for something more comprehensive and personalized than what is listed in catering guide. Can you customize things for me?
A: The sample menus in our catering guide are a starting point to give you ideas. Our Signature Event division is always happy to customize menu selections to meet the needs of you and your guests. Whether you select one of our exclusive venues, one of the many preferred catering locations we suggest, or a location of your own, our most experienced event managers will create a unique celebration that encompasses your most exacting specifications and dreams. We are with you every step of the way to assist you in assembling a dream team of event professionals in floral design, music and photography which will ensure the success of your special event from the first planning session to the last dance.

Q: Can you help me choose the best venue for my event?
A: From the Hudson Valley, to the Capital Region, to the North Country... from barns to baseball diamonds... we can create events with kitchen-fresh food and just the right mood, anywhere you like. Your event planner will help you select from a list of established locations, or help you go off the beaten path to a place as unique and personal as your imagination.
Q: What is the standard length of time for an event?
A: The average wedding reception lasts 5 hours, from Cocktail Hour through the last dance. Most of our reception packages reflect this. If you would like to extend the length of your reception the Mazzone Catering team is happy to fulfill this for you. Additional costs apply - please consult your event planner for details.
Q: I would like to set up my décor the day prior. Is there a cost involved?
A: The packages in our catering guide are priced to allow our staff adequate time to arrive on site and set up our food and beverage needs the day of your event. Please note, depending on the reception venue, there is a chance there early restrictions may apply. If you would like to have your reception space set up earlier Mazzone Catering can send a team early to pre-set the space. Additional charges apply.
Q: What happens if my guests show up before my reception is scheduled to begin?
A: Our team will be ready for guests a minimum of 15 minutes prior to the scheduled start of your reception. If guests arrive earlier we ask that they have patience and allow us to finish our set-up so that we can attend to them 100% at the time planned. If your ceremony is much earlier than your reception and you plan to take photos in between, it is a great idea to clearly state this on your invitation. It is also helpful to provide guests with a list of nearby attractions to visit before your reception begins.
Q: Can you help with dietary restrictions?
A: Our talented culinary team can accommodate any dietary restriction, as long as we know ahead of time. For off-premise events it is vital that you ask your guests about their dietary needs prior to submitting your final meal counts. During meal service our team will also make every effort to accommodate guests who have not pre-ordered special meals.
Q: What kind of preparing space do you need?
A: Every location is unique and that is part of the challenge of serving top quality food outside of a professional kitchen. A covered catering prep / cooking area is necessary for our culinary team. The area should be in close proximity to the service area. Electricity and portable water are also necessary. If an appropriate space and tables are not available, a catering tent & necessary equipment, can be rented and the cost will be added to your final invoice.
